The journey toward discipleship will include obedience to Christ’s call to influence others by being His witness and serving within His church.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8
“From Him (Christ) the whole body (the church), joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” Ephesians 4:16
The path toward discipleship is not a path of selfishness and constant taking from others, but instead it is a path of loving servanthood that desires giving to others. A true, biblical disciple will be one who influences others. Therefore, as a church, we need to make sure that we are consistently providing opportunities that will lead Christ-followers into selfless, sacrificial service to those who are in Christ and to those who are far from God.
