Focusing on the Victories.

Whenever I have a prolonged time of stress in my life, I have a hard time seeing the good in situations. Whatever is causing the stress is what I end up focusing on. This can become both discouraging and exhausting very quickly. Satan loves to have our focus be the negatives and bad things going on around us instead of things that bring us joy and peace during times of stress. The truth of the matter is that even during times of stress, there are good things happening that God wants us to focus on. I like to look at these things as victories that help us get through each day.

Recently, a close friend and I have been intentional about ending each day of our quarantine by asking, “What’s one good thing that happened today?” We do this to encourage the other person to intentionally think about things that they have enjoyed during their day. One passage of Scripture that helped to spawn this idea is 2 Corinthians 10:5. In this passage it talks about taking every thought captive to obey Christ. It’s important to understand that we need to intentionally focus on the victories that God gives us every day. This means that we must evaluate our days and the things that happened to find the victories. Also, it is equally as important for you to share these victories with someone! Whether it is someone in your family or a friend, sharing these victories with them is a way to encourage each other that God is still good and still in control. I miss all of you so much and eagerly look forward to the time that we can all be back together again!

This week I want you to start to look for the victories that God provides every day and share them with someone.
