One thing you can say about the Bible, is that God doesn't pull any punches! In it, we see the good, the bad and the ugly mistakes that people have made through the years. In it, we find how God delivered His people Israel from slavery in Egypt and led them to the land He had promised Abraham centuries before. After they had taken possession of the land God promised, you'd think that the Israelites would have whole-heartedly followed after God out of sincere gratitude for the blessings He had given them. But, noooooooo! Their gratitude soon turned to complacency and neglect of God's word. Eventually, they began worshiping the false gods they were supposed to destroy and God unleashed judgement on them in order to bring them back to worshiping Him - the only real God! In the next message in our series called "The Story", Pastor Scott points out the cycle of sin that His people seemed to struggle with over and over again. We'll also learn that we also have some of the same tendencies to

The Battle Begins
When you think of courage, what comes to mind? The lion in the Wizard of Oz, or maybe the Marines raising the flag on Mt. Suribachi on Iwo Jima during WW2? When it comes right down to it, we all want to be courageous. It's just that, sometimes the obstacles are so great and the odds are so overwhelming, that we can't even imagine a victory! This is the challenge God's people faced when they were told to go into the promised land and take possession of it way back in early Bible times. What things had they learned through all the years of wandering that led to one victory after another against overwhelming odds? Amazingly, the things they learned are the same things we need to remember today when facing life's challenges. Pastor Scott reveals those things as he continues with the series "The Story."
Wandering
It's a Family Gathering service! Our kids help us learn how complaining is not what God wants from His people!
New Commands/New Covenant
What comes to mind when you hear the words, "The 10 Commandments"? Stone tablets, lightning bolts from heaven, a smoking mountain, Charlton Heston? A lot of things come to mind, right? Some good, some bad. But, whatever you think about them, the 10 Commandments are important, and God wants us to know why He gave them and how they might apply to us today. Pastor Scott continues in the series entitled "The Story."
Knowing Our God Through The Exodus
As we continue to move through The Story found in the Bible, Adam Farmer draws our attention to important truths and lessons we can learn from the experiences of God's people when they were delivered from slavery in Egypt. God was faithful to keep His promises then, and He will be faithful to keep them now!
Why I Can Face The Future With Faith
Pastor Tim Snyder, the Pastor of Discipleship & Worship Ministries at Riverdale Baptist nearby, brings the message today. It's entitled, "Why I Can Face The Future With Faith."
God Builds A Nation
In today's message, we find God choosing a very unlikely couple to through which He will build a nation of people to call His own. It's proof that God doesn't always choose the most talented or qualified people to carry out His plans. He chooses people who are willing to trust Him to sometimes do the impossible in and through our lives!
The Beginning Of Life As We Know It
Today, we began our journey through "The Story"! We started at the very beginning - at creation - where we find Adam & Eve living in a garden paradise. "What could go wrong", you ask? Well, a whole lot, as Pastor Scott teaches us in today's message entitled "The Beginning of Life As We Know It." Good thing this is the first chapter and not the last, as we learn that God was not willing to let mankind continue to go down the path toward death and eternal punishment. In today's message, we see the first signs of hope for the human race!
Engaging The Story
Pastor Scott sets the stage for the 2019 theme that we will be focusing on this year. The message title today is: "Engaging the Story." Over the course of 31 weeks, we'll be working through a study called "The Story". The great thing about The Story is that all ages will be studying the same sections of the Bible each week. We are hoping to encourage more interaction about the Bible between people of all ages while at church, and at home. It should be a lot of fun, so buckle up and join in! Please contact our church office if you would like to order any of the age related resources that will help make your study more enjoyable.
Strategic Planning
Pastor Scott shares vision and strategy for the ministry of South Baptist Church for 2019 and beyond. The vision and strategy are designed to help us accomplish the mission of our church: To reach people who are far from God, and grow up those who are in Christ!
