I know what you are thinking…..you’re ticked!  You’re sayin’ “How did I miss the previous 345 Easy Evangelism Ideas?”, right?  “Am I really so busy doing the important things in my life that I haven’t kept up with my on-line social media responsibilities?”  Well, relax.  This was simply my shameless use of worldly marketing techniques designed to suck you into the vortex of the blogosphere, the whirlpool of on-line brain-drain, the black hole of multitudinous musings.  No, there are NOT 345 ‘Easy Evangelism’ ideas posted somewhere out on our web-site.  In fact, Easy Evangelism is somewhat of an oxymoron.

There’s nothing easy about evangelism.  It is a supernatural process that Christ commanded all of His followers to be engaged with.  It involves us praying and looking for opportunities to share the Gospel of Christ with another person in our lives in hopes that God’s Spirit will move that person one step closer to salvation by faith.  It is an amazing process and one that can often overwhelm me and cause me to fall into the paralyzing state of thinking it’s just too big for me to be involved in it!  If you’re like me, you can think of a million reasons why you are not more engaged in the evangelism process.  However, something happened in Wall, SD to snap me out of my paralysis!

Kim and I were out in South Dakota on a 30th anniversary celebration a couple of weeks ago.  We were getting ready to check out of the Days Inn and head into the Badlands for some hiking when I forgot something in our room.  I went back in and happened to see the envelope sitting on the dresser with the name of the lady who had cleaned our room…Tiffany.  Ok, so I’ll admit it … I don’t usually throw a tip out there for the cleaning staff, unless they’ve gone way above and beyond the call of duty (and that has happened on occasion).  I figure – hey, isn’t a clean room included in the cost for the room?  Anyway, on the envelope, Tiffany had written a friendly note with a few smiley faces on it, wishing us an enjoyable stay.  At that moment, as I’m running out the door, the Spirit of God seemed to burden my soul with a spiritual concern for this lady that I had never met.  So, I thought … what can I do?  The idea came to me to go out to the car and grab a Gospel tract and put it in the envelope for Tiffany along with a tip.  When I came back with the tract and cash, guess who was IN the room?  Yeah, Tiffany!  I can’t tell you how easy it was for me to simply tell her thanks for taking care of our room and hand her the cash and the tract.  It really was easy!  The whole thing cost me about 3 minutes and a $5 bill.  I have no idea how God will use this to bring Tiffany to salvation, but I believe He will!  When we are sensitive to the Spirit’s leading and actually look for the open doors God puts in our path to share the love and the message of Christ, it’s amazing how ‘easy’ evangelism can be!

(just kidding….but I hope you will join me in asking God to use us to reach other people with the Gospel wherever we are.  It doesn’t have to be hard!)
